About the Book

Lo primero que salta a la vista apenas abrimos 'El mar de hierba' es su solidez literaria. Los 19 relatos que componen el volumen tienen una factura impecable. Romero hace gala de un lenguaje cuidadoso, una precisión estructural milimétrica y un plexo de metáforas sobrias que no por serlo dejan de ser originales. Mención aparte merecen cuentos tan brillantes como 'El cormorán', 'Toni el mecánico', 'La luz que nunca se apaga', 'Un mundo perfecto', 'El funeral', 'El muñeco de nieve', o 'El mar de hierba', última pieza del libro. Tampoco podía faltar el pedigrí que respalda toda propuesta artística que merezca ese nombre. 'El mar de hierba' lo tiene, y de la mejor calidad. Entre sus antecesores literarios se cuentan escritores tan indiscutibles como Tobías Wolff, Carver, Cheever, Lucía Berlin y, en general, los herederos de la escuela realista norteamericana que encabezaran en su momento Hemingway y Salinger. Lo más interesante es que Romero reactiva esta herencia dándole al declive actual de la sociedad industrial el sentido de un mito tan personal como lúcido.
Inés Mendoza

Luis Romero Villa (Bilbao, 1970).
Es licenciado en Historia. Ha participado en el programa de Doctorado en Historia del Arte de la UNED, obteniendo el título del DEA. En el ámbito profesional, su carrera como funcionario se ha desarrollado en el sector logístico en la empresa estatal Correos. En la actualidad trabaja en la Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social. Motivado por sus lecturas tempranas y por su imaginación activa, sintió desde niño la necesidad de escribir. En 2013 decide tomarse en serio su vocación de escritor y formarse para ello. Comienza entonces su aprendizaje en los talleres de la Escuela de Escritores que lleva a cabo durante una década.
Ganador del certamen literario IX Concurso Literario Vasco Díaz Tanco. Ha publicado un cuento en el libro Se los llevaron en el camión del historiador riojano Tomás Llanos Justa.
El mar de hierba es su primer libro de relatos.
