Este libro es un primer intento de presentar la mecá nica cuá ntica relativista a aquellos interesados en la mecá nica cuá ntica, pero sin conocimientos previos de ella. Actualmente, la mecá nica cuá ntica relativista se considera un tema avanzado al que só lo pueden acceder aquellos que ya han recibido una formació n considerable en mecá nica cuá ntica no relativista. Sin embargo, los autores creen haber encontrado un excelente enfoque pedagó gico para introducir simultá neamente los temas de la mecá nica cuá ntica relativista y no relativista. Este libro es el resultado de una investigació n que comenzó en el otoñ o del añ o 2019. En ú ltima instancia, estos estudios cristalizaron en la publicació n de los artí culos titulados "¿ Tení a Schrö dinger otras opciones?" por L. Grave de Peralta en European Journal of Physics, 41, 065404 (2020); "Simplificando la mecá nica cuá ntica relativista", por L. Grave de Peralta, L. A. Poveda y B. Poirier, en European Journal of Physics, 42, 055404 (2021); y "Un enfoque no relativista de la mecá nica cuá ntica relativista: el caso del oscilador armó nico", por L. A. Poveda, L. Grave de Peralta, J. Pittman y B. Poirier en Foundations of Physics 52, 29 (2022). Recientemente, se han publicado otros 11 artí culos sobre este tema. Por razones pedagó gicas, hemos evitado la utilizació n de las ecuaciones má s conocidas de la mecá nica cuá ntica relativista. Só lo nos referimos a las ecuaciones de Klein-Gordon y Dirac para justificar el uso de las ecuaciones de Poveda-Poirier-Grave de Peralta (PPGP). Las ecuaciones de PPGP son las ecuaciones en las que se basa este libro. Sin embargo, para evitar complicaciones innecesarias en un libro introductorio, nos referimos esporá dicamente a resultados bien conocidos obtenidos mediante el uso de las ecuaciones de Klein-Gordon y Dirac.
About the Author: Luis Grave de Peralta es actualmente profesor titular en el Departamento de Fí sica y Astronomí a de Texas Tech University (TTU), Estados Unidos. É l es un Licenciado en Fí sica de la Universidad de Oriente en Cuba y obtuvo su Ph. D. en ingenierí a elÉ ctrica en TTU. É l ha publicado má s de 90 artí culos en revistas cientí ficas. Maricela Ferná ndez Lozada (Ph. D.) es una fí sica teó rica cubana mexicana con una amplia experiencia enseñ ando mecá nica cuá ntica. Hira Farooq (Ph. D.) es instructora en el Departamento de Fí sica y Astronomí a de TTU. Gage Eichman, Abhishek Singh y Gabrielle Prime son brillantes estudiantes de fí sica en el Departamento de Fí sica y Astronomí a de TTU. Las interacciones en el aula entre los autores dieron como resultado el novedoso enfoque pedagó gico de la mecá nica cuá ntica relativista y no relativista en el que se basa este libro.
