About the Book

Frank St. Germaine has it all. He was handed the directorship of a noted ballet company in Quebec and a beautiful woman is by his side. After a difficult loss he creates "Medicine Wheel", a brilliant ballet that becomes his signature piece. But everything begins to unravel after a gorgeous young ballerina tempts him in a weak and confusing moment. He returns to New York and reinvents himself with the help of a fellow dancer. He runs with the higher circles and copes with everyday life that includes a teenage daughter who has become a Goth. Just as he is about to achieve an important goal, his new and hopeful life crashes horribly with an epoch tragedy. He loses everything including his best friend and is lured back toward substance abuse. Life and old age begin to catch up with him as he struggles to maintain some kind of status quo. When everything seems bleak, he encounters an unlikely person who gives him hope. This fourth volume encompasses the scope of 20+ years of artistic life in Montreal and New York City. It also explores an eyewitness account of one of the most horrific events of the twenty-first century.
About the Author: Alexandra Collard has been involved in dance most of her life. Even though all the companies in this book are fictional, they embody many issues of the companies she danced with in her early adulthood. When her son Shane was accepted as a scholarship student at the School of American Ballet, she quit dancing and moved to New York City. While there, she worked in the administration offices at George Balanchine's New York City Ballet in 1980. A year later, she was the administrator of the American Ballet Theatre School when it was re-formed as a special scholarship program under the direction of Mikhail Baryshnikov and Patricia Wilde. In addition to dance and theater, Alexandra wrote a newspaper column about the arts, and articles for two popular dog magazines. She also worked as a forensic psychologist for 22 years. Alexandra has lived in San Diego California, New York City, Richmond Virginia, and several venues in Europe. She traces her family background to Montréal. Currently, she is retired and lives in Monterey California where she performs in local theater productions, and continues to write.
