L'ascension de Richard Meier a commencé dès l'instant où il s'est autoproclamé membre des «New York Five». Commande après commande, il s'est élevé au rang d'immense star de l'architecture. De Madison Square Garden à Shenzhen, en Chine, on doit à son modernisme minimaliste, blanc et lumineux nombre des constructions les plus réputées et les plus caractéristiques des XXe et XXIe siècles.

Les réalisations de Meier sont aussi variées que prestigieuses. Il a oeuvré sur des chefs-d'oeuvre à Rome (le musée de l'Ara Pacis), des cités balnéaires (le village Jesolo Lido), des bâtiments publics (l'hôtel de ville de San Jose), ainsi que pour une clientèle privée dans les Hamptons.
