Umfassende und gezielte Informationen, die Schüler in ihrem Berufsfindungsprozess unterstützen, sind heute wichtiger denn je. Aufgrund der immer geringer werdenden Halbwertzeiten von Wissen, hat die Relevanz von stupidem Fachwissen in den letzten Jahren immer mehr an Bedeutung verloren. Viele Ausbildungsbetriebe fordern von ihren Auszubildenden Kommunikations- und Teamfähigkeit. Der Wandel des Wissens respektive der Kompetenzen kann an der Institution Schule und deren Lerninhalten nicht unbeachtet vorbei gehen. "Handlungsorientierung als Gestaltung von Lernprozessen, in denen die Lernenden möglichst durch selbstständiges Handeln lernen, mindestens jedoch durch aktives Tun, jedenfalls nicht allein durch gedankliches Nachvollziehen von Handlungen anderer." Mit diesem Zitat von Reinhard Bader wird deutlich, dass mit der Einfuhr der Handlungsorientierung in den Unterrichtsalltag ein deutlicher Wandel der Unterrichtsmethoden und Lerninhalte vollzogen wird, respektive in Zukunft noch weiter ausgebaut werden soll. Betriebsführungen, Betriebsbesichtigungen, Betriebsexkursionen - das gibt es doch schon. Wozu also Betriebserkundungen? Nur eine neue Bezeichnung? Oder doch mehr? Wenn ja, wo liegt der Unterschied zwischen Betriebserkundungen und jenen Formen von Betriebsbesuchen, die häufig unter dem Schlagwort "Betriebstourismus" zusammengefasst werden? Diese Ausarbeitung beschäftigt sich im Besonderen mit den Methoden der Betriebserkundung und Expertenbefragung, wobei die Expertenbefragung als Bestandteil der Betriebserkundung vorgestellt wird.
