About the Book

Michelangelo's Moses, at the tomb of Pope Julius II in San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome, remains a visitors' attraction to this day, while the monument itself has been discussed very controversially. The introductory chapters of this volume detail its history and conception. The later chapters detail the author's research on the monument's architectural history, including its renovation between 1999 and 2003. The volume also includes a detailed analysis of the statue of Moses and all other statuary on the tomb. German text.
