About the Book

Mindless Vengeance is the story of a young woman who has enough energy, intellect and bravado to tackle the world. Jennifer is a college student who decides to return home to help unravel the mystery surrounding her father's death. Her father, a police officer for over twenty years, suddenly commits suicide. As if that is not shocking enough to Jennifer and her family, he is now the fourth police officer in recent months to die by his own hand. As Jennifer begins to delve into the case, she encounters a deadly force that works against her to not only impede her efforts, but also to destroy her and those she loves. Jennifer must battle against time and an unknown evil to keep her sanity and to learn the truth of her father's demise. Along the way, Jennifer meets Rusty, a quiet and unassuming guy whose demeanor is Jennifer's polar opposite. As their two lives begin to come together, they find their differences are sometimes impeding, but more often complimentary, in their efforts to understand what lies before them. Jennifer is forced to contend with the powerful forces of evil, an evil that threatens to pull her into its clutches through hatred, passion and emotion. Jennifer seeks to destroy the evil that she fears has destroyed her father; however, is ultimately faced with whether she can destroy it without becoming that same evil. Jennifer encounters emotions she had never experienced before and wonders why this epic task was ever thrust upon her. Meanwhile, Rusty has struggled throughout life to learn how to control emotions he wished he didn't have. Together they must somehow find a way to unlock the mystery that refuses to be revealed. Lives come together and lives are torn apart in this story that touches the very fabric of life. The ultimate question is whether someone can, through your mind and your thoughts and your emotions, take away all the good you have ever held in your heart. Jennifer must deal with that question.
About the Author: I was born and raised in urban Connecticut, yet always yearned for my grandparents' dairy farm in upstate New York or the wide-open spaces of Kentucky or Tennessee, where we would, as a family, sometimes venture for a week of camping, fishing and swimming. At age eighteen, I joined the Air Force, where I met Judy, my wife now for 34 years. She and our two daughters were loving and understanding enough to travel with me the next twenty years to places like Nebraska, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and New Mexico. While all assignments were memorable in their own way, I somehow left my heart in Alamogordo, New Mexico, home of the most magnificent sunsets I have ever experienced. The friends we met along the way are our greatest blessing. While too numerous to mention (while also avoiding the risk of offending through unintentional omission), each one has helped to shape my life in one way or another. To the bosses who turned into lifelong friends, I thank you for your patience and understanding, not only as a mentor, but as a friend who never worried about giving more than you received. To the neighbors who helped in lending a hand as we moved in next door or across the street, I thank you. You turned into great friends because of your generosity and patience, as I finally found enough time to get a new muffler on my car or return the weed eater I borrowed the month before. To the coworkers who I failed to fully appreciate until we parted, I thank you for helping me understand there is value in every relationship, especially those that take time to blossom. The older I grow, the more I come to appreciate youth. I thank God for our grandson, Ethan, who is a breath of fresh air, even though at times he leaves me gasping for air. I wrote this story hoping one day he is able to read it and understand that everyone struggles with life, just in different ways; that nothing is impossible if you believe in yourself and you let the love of those around you lift you up. I hope you enjoy this book and look for my other books "Boyer" and "When Destiny Prevails". The latter is soon to be released. Look also for a sequel to "Mindless Vengeance" in the coming years.
