About the Book

A fragile peace has settled over the post-war world. The Soviets, determined to build their military into a world-dominating juggernaut, threaten not only the peace of Europe but pose a global threat of nuclear proportions. Dwight D. Eisenhower is in desperate need of intel on the Soviet build-up of long-range bombers and ICBM's before he orders America's industrial machine into another war-footing of building ships, planes, and an ICBM network to stay the threat. Getting eyes on the Russian ground, sea, air and nuclear arsenal is Mission Critical to our nation's strategic defenses and prompts the CIA and the White House to embark on a fast-track to put eyes in the sky.

Montana cowboy and decorated WWII bomber pilot, Carl Bridger, joins Clarence "Kelley" Johnson, a Lockheed aviation legend, to create the world's highest flying and fastest reconnaissance platforms ever designed, giving birth to the U-2, A-12, and the SR-71 spy planes. As both a CIA agent and Air Force Reserve pilot, Carl's unique mission is two-fold: engage in top-secret spy craft to stop the Soviet super-spy known as "Attic" and be among the first to fly photo reconnaissance missions from 80,000 feet at Mac 3!

About the Author:

Spencer Anderson is a former pilot and retired Air Force veteran and Vietnam war veteran. His passion for aviation reveals itself in his writing.

The Carl Bridger series: The Last Raider, Avenging Angel: A Pilot's Story, and Mission Critical feature such noteworthy aircraft as the B-25 Mitchell medium bomber, and the P-51 Mustang fighter of WWII fame. Later, in the series, we learn about the U-2 and the secretive Area 51. Carl's career ends in spectacular fashion in the cockpit of project Oxcart's A-12, and the SR-71 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft. A fourth novel, the Secret of Moaning Cave was written for Spencer's younger readers. The only things that fly in "Cave" are flying horses and dragons. Look for Spencer's nonfiction anthology of World War II stories of heroes who fought on land, on sea, and in the air, in "We Remember: In Defense of Freedom", due out in Spring, 2019.

Spencer Anderson lives with his wife Carole in St. George, Utah. They can be seen attending air shows throughout the Western United States from March through November.
