Wer kennt sie nicht: die kleinen Plänkeleien und Reibereien im Büro, die scherzhaft in den Raum geworfene Bemerkung zum Kleidungsstil eines Kollegen oder aber die lautstarke Auseinandersetzung, über die bei einem Bier nach Feierabend wieder gelacht werden kann. Aber was, wenn dies alles in exorbitant psychischem Stress und sozialer Demontage endet? Das Phänomen "Mobbing" ist keine zeitweise Modeerscheinung, sondern mittlerweile Alltag in vielen Unternehmen, ganz gleich ob Global-Player oder Drei-Mann-Unternehmen. Die akut Betroffenen systematischer Schikanen am Arbeitsplatz haben mit psychischen und psychosomatischen Konsequenzen beängstigenden Ausmaßes zu leben, nicht selten kombiniert mit beruflichen Einschnitten oder sogar arbeitsrechtlichen Maßnahmen. Die Lobby der Betroffenen ist gering, das Feld "Mobbing" bis heute zu wenig erforscht, wenn gleich die Empirie in den letzten Jahren (vgl. den aktuellen Mobbing-Report 2005) aufgeholt hat. Daneben werden die durch Mobbing induzierten wirtschaftlichen Kosten in der breiten Öffentlichkeit kaum berücksichtigt; erstaunlich bei betriebs- und volkswirtschaftlichen Kosten in Milliardenhöhe! Diese Studie widmet sich einerseits den "Opfern" von Mobbingkampagnen und betrachtet in diesem Zusammenhang kritisch die Funktion des unternehmerischen Konfliktmanagements und den praktizierten Führungsstilen. Andererseits wird hinterfragt, ob sich die Rolle des Täters klar in einer Person definieren lässt oder ob es weitere Einflussfaktoren im organisatorischen Kontext gibt. Hierbei steht eine sachliche Differenzierung der Begrifflichkeiten "Opfer" und "Täter" im Vordergrund. Weiterhin gilt es, Indikatoren und Mobbing begünstigende Faktoren am Arbeitsplatz aufzudecken. Die Autorin vertritt die Auffassung, dass nicht der Einzelne auf Grund seiner Persönlichkeit ´Schuld´ an seinem Status als "Mobbingopfer" ist/hat, sondern dass Missstände im Führungsverhalten und der Bewältigung von Konflikten zu Mobbing führen.
