Esas cosas estaban en el bolsillo del padre de Bengie Molina cuando murió de un infarto cardiaco en el terreno surcado de Liga Infantil en su barrio de Puerto Rico. Bengie era el que menos posibilidades tenía de llegar a las mayores. Era demasiado lento, demasiado sensible y demasiado pequeño. Pero ávido de ganarse el respeto de su querido padre, Bengie soportó fracaso tras fracaso hasta que un día logró alzar un trofeo de Serie Mundial en una casa club empapada en champán. Todo el tiempo pensó que estaba realizando el sueño glorioso de béisbol de su padre, sólo para descubrir que no había sido ese el sueño de su padre.

About the Author: Benjamin José Bengie Molina es un ex receptor de Grandes Ligas que ha jugado para los Ángeles de Anaheim, los Blue Jays de Toronto y los Gigantes de San Francisco. Sus hermanos, Yadier y José, son también receptores en las ligas mayores. Bengie ha ganado dos anillos de Serie Mundial y dos Premios Guantes de Oro. Es ahora coach de primera base e instructor de receptores de los Rangers de Texas.

Joan Ryan es una laureada periodista y autora. Fue una de las primeras mujeres columnistas de deportes en el país y ha cubierto los principales eventos deportivos, desde Super Bowls a Olimpiadas y campeonatos de boxeo. Ha ganado por su trabajo 13 Premios a Editores Deportivos de la agencia Prensa Asociada (AP), el Premio a la Principal Figura Nacional en Periodismo y el Premio de Periodismo de la Fundación de Deportes de Mujeres entregado por la filial de San Francisco de la Organización Nacional de Mujeres. Su libro Little Girls in Pretty Boxes: The Making and Breaking of Elite Gymnasts and Figure Skaters (Lindas niñas en cajas lindas: La formación y quiebra de selectas gimnastas y patinadoras de hielo) fue nombrado por la revista Sports Illustrated uno de los 100 Mejores Libros sobre Deportes de Todos los Tiempos (el único escrito por una mujer), así como uno de los 50 Mejores Libros sobre Deportes de Todos los Tiempos por el periódico The Guardian. Joan trabaja ahora como consultora de medios noticiosos de los Gigantes de San Francisco.
