About the Author: Robert Saul Nissan, MD, graduated from Tufts University with a degree in English. He attended medical school at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine and performed his residency in family medicine. During that time, he wrote and published poems in literary journals and presented occasional poetry readings.
He was assistant director of a family medicine residency program until 1987. He then practiced family medicine in Northport, Long Island, New York, until retirement in June of 2014.
He currently lives in Huntington, New York, with his wife Diane whom he married in 1979. Together they have two grown children.
