About the Book

Monster Mind is the first book in a series about a Lance Livingston, his need and search for a family he could depend on. Lance has a gift of touch. Just touching a person or shaking their hand he could tell if they were good or evil. Lance's youth is detailed through his teenage years until the time he got married. The influences in his youth that drove him to do the things he did in search of the perfect family. Lance would start to eliminate people who would harm him or his family. Lance only saw himself as a protector of his family and friends that would do anything to stop the threat in the most brutal way possible. Excerpt: The first time Lance met Aunt Brenda Lance and his family went to visit her in Oakland, CA. on her birthday. Aunt Brenda was dark almost blue. She had straight long black hair that hung below her waist. She had these large bright green eyes and she always wore a certain shade of green lipstick and eye shadow that made her eyes appear even more -green. When she saw Lance, Aunt Brenda looked straight into Lances eyes smiled and gave him a big hug then whispered in his ear. "You are like me, always be true to yourself and your feelings. Trust your instincts they will never fail you." "She continued," "You will do great things" "However you must keep what you do to yourself because no one will understand what you feel." Lance was not sure what to say or do he did not get a bad feeling or a good feeling from her it felt more like a warm bolt that shook him. As they were getting ready to leave "Aunt Brenda said", "I have something to give to Lance." "Marcus said" "I do not think Lance needs a gift besides you just met him." Aunt Brenda approached Marcus and Marcus took a step back. Lance had never before seen Marcus step back from any man or woman. Marcus did not have fear in his eyes. He was giving her a curious look as to what is this woman up to. Aunt Brenda put her hand on Marcus's shoulder and "said" "You have nothing to worry about with the gift I want to give Lance it will protect him from danger so the legend has it." Aunt Brenda took Lance by the hand and led him into a room there. The room was full of magazines, old photos, various types of Jars and containers. This room was not as meticulously clean as the rest of the house. Aunt Brenda reached into a Chester drawer and gave Lance a pocket watch. "She said" "The watch keeps perfect time and for him to open it." It was a beautiful solid gold hand crafted watch with some type of red liquid encased where normally writing or a picture would go. "Aunt Brenda said" "Lance keep the watch with you at all times. Never, never show it to anyone the more you show it to someone the power will lessen with each showing and the less power to protect you. This watch was giving to me as a little girl I am now passing it on to you just as you will do someday. The watch will protect you when you do those great things I mentioned earlier." On the way home, when they thought the boys were asleep. Marcus and Lawanda were talking about the gift Aunt Brenda gave Lance. "Markus said" "I feel that Lance should keep the gift no matter how I personally feel about Aunt Brenda and her different ways." "Lawanda said" "I have no problem except that she would like to know what it is and why Aunt Brenda did not give a gift to Larry." "Markus replied" "I was wondering that as well but you know how your aunt is when it comes to her so called inner feelings about people." "Marcus continued" "That maybe she felt something about Larry that we can't see if she really does have inner feelings about people."
