"Importance of Moral Values in Students Life" - FROM THE EDITORS DESK
We all are in search of Happiness. As young kids we do not have that realisation but as we grow old we understand the true value of Happiness. Whatever we do or act intentionally or unintentionally, we are seeking the self happiness. Some acts of kindness or give aways in any form gives us that pleasure and creates Happiness around.
Happiness is toxic and contagious. Happy people create happiness all around and make the atmosphere lively. A simple smile on the face or a gesture of greeting can create that unsaid bond of humanity.
Why this Book? With my so many years of experience, having discussions and interactions with uncountable number of people I have seen people in India are generally not happy. During my visit to many other Asian, European or African countries, have observed people have different outlook and perspective towards life. Interaction with them creates a positive vibe and they seem to be much happier comparatively.
Moral values once inculcated go throughout life and impacts ones behaviour and choices. Individual morals get imprinted in the young years from the inputs from Parents, Teachers, Society, Friends and other Interactions of Social media, News, Religion and so on.
It is of paramount importance that we create a culture where in students get positive and motivated inputs and Education is conscious and deliberate process in doing so. Aim of Moral Education is to build and develop proper attitude, values, emotions and character in rightful manner to enable person to think freely, critically and independently and be able to act with responsibility and courage.
Moral values get imbibed more thru observation than thru merely teaching. Observations by children make a deep rooted impacts. Children observe their Parents at home and Teachers at School. So there has to be deeper connect and as students listen more to their teacher, makes the task more responsible for teachers to conduct and act than to merely give routine lecture. "Lead by Example".
What we become is thru what we think and what we think comes from our inner core of embedded thoughts and observations stored in our subconscious minds over the period of time. Children brain is most receptive as it is still observing and absorbing so to ensure it is rightly programmed for future outcomes, we need to inculcate best moral values to build compassionate humans.
To address issues like terrorism, communal violence, living in harmony with fellow humans and Environment around us, we need to sow the seeds now. This needs a complete paradigm shift of including moral values and mindfulness as integral part of Education, rather than merely a subject. This needs involvement of all of us, as Parents towards our children, as Teachers towards our students, as society towards others and as human towards global environment which includes flora and fauna.
In India - my personal observations have been that hardly few percent of students are excited to go to school. The reason for that has been:
Lack of conducive and harmonious atmosphere is schools
Gap in Teachers to Students connect
Parent - Teacher - Child engagement.
Undue Parental pressures on kids over academic performance
Creation of unwanted peer, competition by Parents and Society.
My endeavour of writing this book is to ensure, we be innovative in our approach and inculcate great moral values in children. To seek support and involvement of students, teachers, parents and entire society.
