But no matter-I wrote it,
for I had little choice:
a deep yearning within
showed the path to my voice.
In his new compilation, More Moments, poet Michael Bourgo builds on his poetry collection Moments Past and Present. These poems continue his exploration and celebration of family, nature, and the wonders of everyday life. In his simple, lyrical poetry, Bourgo looks back at his ancestors with reverence and gratitude, and looks forward to the future with hope.
Bourgo structures his collection around three anchoring sections dedicated to his forebears, his parents, and his children. Surrounding these are four sections that blend musings on nature, belief and moments of human connection. Each of these four also celebrates the passing of a season.
In addition to time, Bourgo also celebrates place in his work. He invites readers to the various places he has lived and shows you the night skies, the fields of flowers, and the songs of birds-all the sights and sounds of each day that inspire him. He also takes you to the towns and villages where his ancestors lived and the cemeteries they chose as their final resting places. His insightful work looks beyond the gravestones and into the lives of ambitious settlers and immigrants who built a family legacy of strength and perseverance.
