Oftmals geht es hierbei um die Leistung oder die Bezahlung dieser. Gerade die Leistung spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Beurteilung von Mitarbeitern. Dabei kommt es vor, dass Mitarbeiter falsch eingeschätzt werden oder generell sehr schwer einzuschätzen sind. Grund dafür ist nicht zuletzt ein fehlendes Wissen der Führungskräfte über die Gründe und Ursachen von vorhandener oder fehlender Motivation bei Mitarbeitern. Die Frage um die Motivation von Mitarbeitern und wie diese optimiert werden kann, ist ein viel diskutiertes Thema, zu dem es jede Menge Meinungen, Theorien und Studien gibt. Die Gründe sind einfach, sind die Mitarbeiter motiviert und zufrieden, äußert sich dies auch im Erfolg eines Unternehmens. Neben den älteren, sehr bekannten Inhaltstheorien von Maslow und Herzberg werden heute oftmals wissenschaftliche Studien zum Thema Motivation von Mitarbeitern durchgeführt. Diese Ergebnisse werden von den durchführenden Unternehmen meist veröffentlicht und stark diskutiert. Oftmals können Ver-gleiche zu früheren und anderen Studien gezogen und so die Entwicklungen, Gründe und Veränderungen von Motivation im Berufsleben analysiert werden. Es ergibt sich das Ziel zu klären, welchen Mehrwert diese Studien der Motivation der Berufswelt bieten und wie sinnvoll Führungskräfte sie nutzen können, um ihre Mitarbeiter zu motivieren. Dies führt zu den Teilzielen, inwieweit die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede dieser Studien ausschlaggebend sind und inwiefern sich die Studien ergänzen und miteinander vereinbar sind.
