Our special recipe is prepared to shine a colorful light on the wonders of your own family's life, filled with a positive self-image, self-respect, compassion, good citizenship and a caring, giving spirit. It starts here with Connie's colorful, comical Mushroom characters. FOR YOUR YOUNG MUSHROOM READERS, Mushroom Tales are colorful Picture Books, where each illustration tells a story and shares an idea that can be easily identified and described by even the youngest family members. Even before reading the first verse, a conversation has begun, laughter is shared with parents and siblings. Not surprisingly, but rather magically, learning continues. Kids will learn of Family Values & Virtues while sharing the joy of family, laughter and of course, reading; that's the Mushroom Mission. ALL PARENTS RAISING CHILDREN, whether Pre-Readers, Beginning Readers and even Intermediate Readers, will find the fun to read stories with the humorous and colorful hand-drawn illustrations, to be an excellent conversation starter. Every Mushroom Tales has a Mushroom Message, intended to shine a happy, character building light on subjects involving The Golden Rule, Kindness, Friendship, Emotions & Feelings, Manners & Etiquette and Self-Reliance. In the same manner, our Tales offer positive suggestions for solutions and further conversation about many Young Mushroom Readers' challenges. Mushroom Tales also address Bullying, Single Moms & Single Dads, Peer Pressure, Immigration, Personal Motivation and Self-Esteem. We are always looking for suggestions from Mushroom Parents for subjects that could use a rhyming verse and a colorful illustration to serve as a lesson and a conversation starter. ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) On a global level, the Mushroom Team is personally committed to the connection of Multicultural families and families where, in many cases, young children will learn English as a second language, with no effort at all, while their parents, who may not be immersed in an English speaking routine, may have little hope of learning to communicate in English. The problems that can arise are obvious and stressful in their impact on the family bond. Our commitment is to offer every Mushroom Tale in a separate English/Spanish Bilingual version, where Young Mushroom Readers can read the stories in both English and Spanish, as the parents follow along in their native language, in this case, Spanish. Our goal is to help to eliminate the problem of children resisting the use of their native language while possibly helping their Mushroom Parents to learn a few keywords in English to advance their own communication skills in English. Since Mushroom Tales are rhyming books, we like to define the Mushroom Method as follows: LEARNING TO READ IS EXCITING! SHARING TIME AND A LAUGH IS GREAT FUN! About the Author: Born in Bogota, Colombia, Maria Consuelo is an artist and a teacher. Her zest for life is expressed in her faith inspired by her family and shared with her students, who become an ever-growing circle of friends. Connie's personal mission is to share her gifts of kindness, caring and compassion with children everywhere. She also enjoys sharing ideas with many friends who truly enjoy the memories and the lessons of their own childhood. Mushroom Tales, like Connie's classes, are always filled with thoughtful conversation, wonderful whimsical images and laughter, always lots of laughter. Just by coincidence, Connie's husband, Dave, also shares the Mushroom Tales Dream, especially while recalling and writing about his wonderful childhood in Portland, Oregon. While many people may live their lives oblivious of their own actions and how they affect others, Dave finds humor in everyday connections and writes about the lessons in almost every daily activity. By practicing what they preach, the Mushroom Team is here to motivate Mushroom Readers everywhere, both young and not so young, to see that life can be a joyful adventure.
