Exercises for self-reflection. Discover your truth and the REAL you. P.S. This 'stuff' really works
My Kinda Magik - The Workbook - is a book of practical exercises to open and stretch your mind to new horizons and possibilities and recalibrate your perspective. The exercises were originally blogged by the author Maria B. Bourke between October 2013 and September 2014 and shared on social media.
In Exercise 11 the author shares how to create The Weekly Goals Journal, a transformational and easy tool to incorporate into your weekly routine to deliberately set your intentions for the life you want to live.
Encouragement from the author:
If this is all new to you, do not dismay! Many of us have found ourselves in exactly this position, wanting to become the master of our own life and destiny. It's a wonderful journey with many twists and turns. Like taking a raft onto a river...once you've started you keep being carried along whether you like it or not....so the sooner you start facing the challenges and lessons that are presented to you, the sooner you will come to know your true self and live an empowered life that you are proud of and excited about.
If you would like to know more about my personal journey of self-discovery I have 'revealed all' in my book My Kinda Magik also available on Kindle.
Continuing our river metaphor, whether you are a seasoned water baby or a raft-rookie welcome to the next stage of your journey!
Here's an abridged version of the introduction:
In 2003 I signed up for a Life Coaching course. On the first day, I learned one of the most important facts, that has had a profound knock on effect on all aspects of my life ever since:
You already have all the right answers to everything in your life.
This may be hard to accept especially if you have lived your life to date believing that someone else knows what is best for you. Embracing this concept was a major step forward for me on the road to self-direction and self-empowerment.
How to get the most from this workbook.
The purpose of this book is to share some of the powerful questions I ask myself and my clients, as well as a selection of my 'Aha' moments. If you really want change in your life I suggest you make a commitment to yourself to do an exercise each week, buy yourself a good journal, nice pens and make an appointment in your diary to invest time in yourself each week.
Getting Started
For most of the exercises, all you need is a pen and paper - a journal or hard backed notebook would be ideal, if possible, so you can keep your thoughts together to review later - and some quiet time for yourself. The exact requirements are listed at the start of each exercise.
My Personal Highlight.
For me, the Weekly Goals Journal which I first created in January 2006 is a very powerful yet simple and affordable life changing tool, that I have often overlooked to my detriment. When I use it, as I did throughout 2006, my life unfolds like magic. You will learn how to set up your Weekly Goals Journal in Exercise 11. (My Kindle book My Kinda Magik has many stories of what I manifested in this way, including my home and business!)
Self-care
While embarking on this journey of self-discovery you must take full responsibility for your mental health and self-care during the process. Some of the exercises in this book may bring up old painful experiences. Be gentle on yourself. Allow yourself the time and space to process your emotions and thoughts. Your body may have been storing these emotions for a long time. It is a good idea to drink plenty of water, have nice salt baths and if possible support yourself with reflexology, massage or other therapies that clear toxins from your body. If you uncover anything that needs professional support, please be wise, seek the care you need to process and he
