English summary: How to represent the invisible? Among those who have, throughout the ages, answered this question, the mystic has something special to say. He who has an experiential knowledge of the Other - the divinity, the depths of the soul - seeks languages to express what he has seen, felt, listened to during the experience that transforms his body and soul. The experience passes through various modalities: vision, ecstasy, rapture. In all cases, God speaks beyond the Scriptures and the book of nature. He speaks in words without syllables or vowels and in words that can be seen, said Gregory the Great. He speaks in signs and visions. What he shows and makes hear during the mystical vision must then be translated. The subject seeks to recount what he experiences. The visionary narrative raises the question of the possibility and limits of translating inner images into words, of any linguistic objectification of the subject's subjectivity. It is not by chance that we find a number of verbal images in these narratives or that they become poems, canciones, Sometimes, yet another language emerges, this time pictorial - figures, drawings, paintings, frescoes that represents the mystical experience. The pages of this collective volume propose to consider this relationships between mystical experience, language and image in order to decipher, through concrete examples from the Middle Ages to the Seventeenth century, how authors and artists attempted to show the invisible through the verbal image of the narrative, the poetic image of the lyric, and the material image of drawing, painting and sculpture. Dans tous les cas, Dieu parle au-dela des Ecritures et du livre de la nature. Il parle en mots sans syllabe ni voyelle et en mots qui se voient, dira Gregoire le Grand. Il parle en signes et en visions. Ce qu'il montre et fait entendre durant la vision mystique doit ensuite etre traduit. Le sujet cherche alors a raconter ce qui fut, ce qu'il vit. Le recit visionnaire pose la question de la possibilite et des limites de la traduction des images interieures en mots, de toute objectivation langagiere de la subjectivite du sujet. Ce n'est pas par hasard qu'on trouve nombre d'images verbales dans ces recits ou que ceux-ci deviennent poemes, canciones, lieux d'imagination de langues qui s'echappent des significations communes, voire de mots capables de contenir l'intelligence mystique pourvu qu'ils soient figures et non raisonnements, comme dira Jean de la Croix. L'etre se raconte et raconte. Et ce qu'il raconte sera parfois traduit dans un autre langage encore qui est cette fois pictural - figures, dessins, tableaux, fresques representent alors l'experience mystique. Les pages de ce volume collectif se proposent de considerer cette gamme d'aspects des relations entre experience mystique, langage et image afin de decoder, par des exemples concrets du Moyen age au XVIIeme siecle, comment les auteurs et artistes ont tente de montrer l'invisible a travers l'image verbale du recit, l'image poetique de la lyrique, l'image materielle du dessin, de la peinture, de la sculpture. Diejenigen, die das Andere - die Gottheit, den Seelengrund - erfahren und erlebt haben, suchen nach einem Ausdruck fur das, was sie wahrend der alles sprengenden, Leib und Seele verwandelnden Erfahrung gesehen, gefuhlt und gehort haben. Die mystische Erfahrung kann dabei uber Visionen oder ekstatische Zustande vermittelt werden, uber eine Entruckung des Geistes in ein schwer beschreibbares Jenseits. Gott aussert sich dort jenseits der Sprache der Heiligen Schrift oder des Buchs der Natur. Er spricht nicht in Worten mit Silben und Vokalen, sondern in Worten, die man sehen kann, wie Gregor der Grosse schreibt. Er spricht in Zeichen und Visionen. Was Gott wahrend der mystischen Vision zeigt und horen lasst, muss anschliessend ubersetzt werden, um wiederzugeben, was war, was erlebt wurde. Der Visionsbericht wirft die Frage nach den Moglichkeiten und Grenzen einer Ubersetzung innerer Bilder in Worte auf und damit uberhaupt die Frage nach der Moglichkeit sprachlicher Objektivierung einer subjektiven Erfahrung. Es ist gewiss kein Zufall, wenn man in diesen Berichten eine Vielzahl sprachlicher Bilder findet, oder lyrische Formen, canciones (Johannes vom Kreuz), genutzt werden, die zum Ort sprachlicher Kreativitat werden, mit Ausdrucken und Satzen, die sich ausserhalb der gangigen, 'normalen' Bedeutung bewegen und gerade dadurch im Idealfall die mystische Erkenntnis in sich bergen. Der mystische Bericht wird manchmal auch in eine andere 'Sprache' ubersetzt, die diesmal bildlich im eigentlichen Sinn des Wortes zu verstehen ist: Es sind dann Diagramme, Zeichnungen, gemalte Bilder oder Wandmalereien, welche die mystische Erfahrung wiederzugeben versuchen. Der Sammelband geht diesen Aspekten von Beziehungen zwischen mystischer Erfahrung, Sprache und Bild nach, um anhand konkreter Beispiele vom Mittelalter bis zum 17. Jahrhundert zu entschlusseln, wie Autoren und Kunstler versucht haben, das Unsichtbare durch das sprachliche Bild im Bericht, durch das poetische Bild in der Lyrik und durch das materielle Bild in der Zeichnung, dem Gemalde oder der Skulptur vor Augen zu stellen.
