Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Theorien, Modelle, Begriffe, Note: 2, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Institut für Publizistik), Veranstaltung: Grundbegriffe und Forschungsfelder der Publizistikwissenschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Am 23.6.2007 berichtete unter anderem die BILD- Zeitung über den Fall des 17-jährigen Marco W. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war er bereits seit 73 Tagen in türkischer Haft, weil ihn die Eltern einer minderjährigen Urlaubsbekanntschaft des sexuellen Missbrauchs angeklagt hatten. Der Fall bekam in Deutschland große Aufmerksamkeit in den Medien. Da es zahlreiche ähnliche Fälle gibt, denen weit weniger Beachtung geschenkt wird, soll im Folgenden untersucht werden, welche besonderen Merkmale Grund für die Publikationsentscheidung sein könnten. Welche Einflussfaktoren spielten im Selektionsprozess der Journalisten eine Rolle? Warum wurde dem Ereignis eine so große Aufmerksamkeit zuteil? Und warum wurde der Fall erst zehn Wochen nach der Inhaftierung von Marco W. für publikationswürdig befunden? Diese Fragen sollen mit Hilfe der Theorien der europäischen Kommunikationsforschung geklärt werden. Aus den vier wesentlichen Forschungsrichtungen "Gatekeeper-Forschung", "News-Bias-Forschung", dem "Framing-Konzept" und der "Nachrichtenwert-Theorie" soll letztere in dieser Arbeit herangezogen werden um die gestellten Fragen zu klären. Zunächst werden die theoretischen Anfänge sowie ihre Weiterentwicklung und empirische Validität aufgeführt. Diese soll insofern Beachtung finden, da geprüft werden soll, inwieweit sich die Publikation des Ereignisses Marco W. mithilfe der Nachrichtenwert-Theorie erklären lässt. Sofern dies möglich ist, soll schließlich eine Antwort auf die eingangs gestellten Fragen gegeben werden.
