About the Book

National Ballot Measures 2024 - Living Democracy is for the people.

Whenever I am forced to listen to a speech made by any of our Congressmen or women, I will often count the number of times they will refer to America as a 'Democracy'. They use that word an average of 15 to 20 times per speech.
They'll say things like - "Democracy is not pretty." Or they'll say, "Democracy is messy and people don't want to see how the sausage is made." Or they will say that people are trying to "end the 'American experiment in Democracy."

Or they'll quote one of the greatest of the founding fathers - Benjamin Franklin who was asked as the signers of of the Constitution were leaving: "Mr. Franklin, what kind of government have you given us?"

And Franklin replied: "A Republic, Madam, if you can keep it."

And so, we can take from this very portentous comment from Ben Franklin that the founding fathers were well aware that there would be forces someday who would try to take even this very modest amount of democracy - a Representative form of Democracy away from us.

It would take almost 250 years for this prediction to come true, but here we are under the threat of a dictatorship that could be forced upon us any minute will certainly spell the end of the American Experiment in Democracy, or it will cause a huge upheaval, perhaps even another Civil War, as many are predicting.

In order to avoid Civil War or worse, I offer the American people another way out of the mess that we're in. We could all come together on the idea of giving the full power of Real Democracy to the people in the form of National Ballot Measures.

When the founding fathers set up the parameters for how we are to run our government, there were no paved roads, no railroads, no airports (despite what Donald Trump thinks) no electricity, no phones and certainly no Internet. They were basically forced by their lack of technology of any kind to send people by horseback or by mule trains to Washington D.C. where they could gather, discuss the problems of the say and come up with their solutions in a Congress which we all know consists of the House of Representatives, where they used to gather after a long and arduous journey by horse-and-buggy or possibly by train, and a Senate where they also arrived one by one to do the bidding of the folks back home, which in those days with only 13 states were all close by - no more than two or three days by horseback.

If the founding fathers were charged with setting up a government that was able to utilize today's technological wonders there is no doubt in my mind that they would propose a kind of voting over the Internet or over the Phone lines because if they proposed anything like what we have now, they'd be tossed immediately into an insane asylum and the key thrown away.

So, in order to fulfill the full potential of what America has meant to people over the last two hundred years and what it could mean to the people of the next two hundred years, I say that we do what the founding fathers would do if they were alive today. Of course, if they were alive today, they would not be slave owners, as they were 250 years ago, so that argument would be moot.

They simply would be political rabble rousers, revolutionaries once again, who were in revolt against a King or Queen or any kind of dictator telling them what to do.

AND, I believe they would want us all to be able to vote directly on the issues of the day by utilizing our miraculous technology. What else is it good for? Are we just going to use it to play games?

What you are about to read are 100 of my top suggestions for National Ballot Measures. I hope to stimulate you all so that you all come up with even better ones than I can. There's talk among the Nazi's in this country that we should have a Constitutional Convention. We better start thinking about having one before THEY do.
