Länder - Neuzeit, Absolutismus, Industrialisierung, Note: 1,7, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena (Historisches Institut), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Kernthema der Hausarbeit "Die Nationalitätenfrage in Ungarn während des 19. Jahrhunderts" ist die Frage, welche Lösungsansätze während der damaligen Zeit formuliert worden sind. Hierbei gilt es vor allem, die Position Ungarns einerseits sowie die Forderungen und Ziele der Nationalitäten andererseits, gegenüber zu stellen. Die von Josef Eötvös in seinem 1865 erschienenen Werk "Die Nationalitäten-Frage" angestellten Überlegungen stellen dabei den zentralen Einstiegspunkt in die Thematik dar. Eötvös hat als einer der bedeutendsten Politiker und politiktheoretischen Denker Ungarns im 19. Jahrhundert wichtige Grundlagen zum Verständnis der Nationalitätenproblematik gelegt. Auch wenn seine Lösungsvorschläge letztlich nicht umgesetzt wurden bzw. unter mehreren Gesichtspunkten nicht zu dem von ihm erhofften Erfolg führten, so kann man sich aus meiner Sicht dieser Thematik nicht ohne die Berücksichtigung seiner Überlegungen nähern. Eine Übersicht über die von ihm vorgeschlagenen Lösungswege und seine Sicht der Ausgangslage stellt deshalb einen wichtigen Teil dieser Hausarbeit dar. Abschließend sollen am Beispiel Kroatiens und Slawoniens einige strukturelle Konfliktlinien zwischen den einzelnen Nationalitätenbewegungen aufgezeigt werden. Die Frage, welche es am Ende zu beantworten gilt ist, ob die von Eötvös vorgeschlagene und von der ungarischen Regierung praktizierte Lösung der Nationalitätenfrage auf Grundlage der Rechtsgleichheit aller Staatsbürger Ungarns letztlich hätte zum Erfolg führen können, oder ob diese den Hauptinteressen der Nationalitäten zuwider lief und deshalb von vornherein zum Scheitern verurteilt war.
