About the Author:

Henry Braun is Boisi Professor of Education and Public Policy and Director of the Center for the Study of Testing, Evaluation and Education Policy in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, USA.

Susan M. Brookhart is Professor Emerita in the School of Education at Duquesne University, USA, and an independent educational consultant.

Chad W. Buckendahl is a Partner with ACS Ventures, LLC, USA.

Linda L. Cook, President of the NCME in 2011-2012, was employed at Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ from 1978 until she retired in 2010. While at ETS, she served as Vice President of the Assessment Division and Executive Director of the SAT testing program. Improving the fairness of inferences made from assessments remains a major professional focus for her, particularly in the area of accessibility.

Susan Davis-Becker is a Partner with ACS Ventures, LLC, USA.

Neil J. Dorans is in the Center for Statistical and Psychometric Theory and Practice in the Research & Development division at Educational Testing Service, where he has worked since 1979. Recipient of the NCME Career Award in 2010, he has been concerned with fairness for test takers for decades, developing procedures for the quantitative assessment of fairness at both the item and score levels.

Fritz Drasgow is Professor of Psychology and Dean of the School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA.

Kadriye Ercikan is Professor of Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia, Canada and Vice President of Statistical Analysis, Data Analysis and Psychometric Research at the Educational Testing Service.

Matthew N. Gaertner is a principal research Scientist in SRI International's Center for Education Policy. His research focuses on college and career readiness and the effects of educational policies and reforms on disadvantaged students' access, persistence, and achievement.

Katie Larsen McClarty is chief assessment officer at Questar Assessments. She oversees item and test development, publishing, psychometrics, and research. Her own research centers on assessment design, college readiness, standard setting, and gifted education.

Krista D. Mattern is a director of ACT's Statistical and Applied Research Department. Her research focuses on evaluating the validity and fairness of both cognitive and noncognitive measures for predicting student success. She is also interested in higher education issues such as college choice, major selection, and college completion.

James H. McMillan is Professor in the Department of Foundations of Education in the School of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA.

James W. Pellegrino is Liberal Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor and Distinguished Professor of Education and Co-Director of the Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA.

Diego Zapata-Rivera is Principal Research Scientist in the Cognitive and Learning Sciences center at Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ.
