About the Book

Sam Adams is a manic depressant-a schizophrenic with issues. Constant voices in his head insult, criticize, and tell him what to do. Along with nightmares and hallucinations, they mess with his mind. It is a lot to try and live with.

Daily life is a constant battle. Euphoric highs and catastrophic lows are part of his psychosis and trap him in their vicious circle.

His chaotic, delusional brain is also exceptionally quick and fantastically clever, and during his youth he escapes an impoverished, abusive childhood to experience high-society London life. Later disastrous events cause him to relocate to Scotland, destitute and scavenging on the streets where a series of grisly crimes happen whenever he is near.

Is he responsible? Can this unhinged genius really be guilty, or is the guilt in his tortured mind? Whatever the truth, an ardent, unrelenting Detective Drew will stop at nothing until he nails him. Need, Greed & Ignorance is the intense new psychological thriller that depicts daily "living hell" of schizophrenia. Written by Andrea Carpenter, 'Need, Greed & Ignorance' sees fact and fiction collide, as readers get a rare yet vital insight into what it's like to live in a confusing world with undiagnosed Schizophrenia. Protagonist Sam Adams seems to attract trouble wherever he steps; but is it his fault? In a dark, gripping turn of events, readers will dissect the mind of a man who is not only misunderstood by others, but barely has a grip on himself. Many authors use their first release to do nothing but simply test the literary waters, however, Britain's Andrea Carpenter is quickly proving that a debut novel is also an opportunity to rival a genre's bestsellers. In a thick cocktail of psychological thrills, intricate dark mystery and a cast of bold characters, 'Need Greed & Ignorance' gives readers the opportunity to step into a mind very different to their own. "Schizophrenia and Manic Depression are the world's most stigmatised and misunderstood conditions - not just for those looking at them from the outside, but also those living their daily evils," explains Carpenter, a Chartered Mechanical Engineer by day. "I've spent many years undertaking diligent research and now invite readers to step into the mind of a sufferer and see the world through their eyes." Continuing, "Sam is guilt-ridden, insular and selfish - and I invite readers to decide how much can be blamed on his innate personality, and how much can be forgiven due to his illness. Like millions, Sam's conditions are undiagnosed which exacerbates their effects on wider society. Ask yourself the question -Who is the real victim - Sam or society?
