About the Book

The Ascension bankrupted the world's governments, forcing a collapse in the structural norm. When the corporations took over, the populous was been divided into two socio-economic segments; the wealthy and powerful and everyone else.Brandon Allen, a descendant of the great General J. Christopher Allen (aka General Zephyr), was born three generations after The Ascension ended. His family, while not in the depths of the decay, had no real money or power. Along with his wife and friends, Brandon worked his way up through the corporate maze and found himself as an computer science based academic with a moderate life, a good house, and a growing family. However, Brandon's life took a tragic turn. The corruption of government agencies, and their corrupted agents, made Brandon the fall guy for the murder of his family. Blindsided by the murder of his brother, mother, and father, Brandon tried to use the justice system to prove his innocence. When the courts failed to help him, Brandon, pushed to the edge, went on the run, taking the street name Hunter. The Department of Justice Incorporated (DOJI) then tasked Brandon's ex-lover, Lorelei Allison (aka Daemon), to hunt him down. After three years on the run being hounded by Daemon, Brandon found the information to prove his innocence. However, those involved did not take kindly to Brandon's evidence. Jaded and humiliated, DOJI sentenced Brandon to 250 years for crimes committed during his run. Showing some amount of mercy, and wishing to fill the coffers, the judge gave Brandon a choice: prison or become a DOJI Fugitive Apprehension Team (DFAT) member. Knowing what waited for him in prison, Brandon chose DFAT.Keeping his street name, Hunter, Brandon gets his first assignment: Alexander Clough Redeux, drug maker and seller. The first day on the job finds Hunter under fire. From that moment, Hunter has to live in a new, fast paced life where every turn could be his last and his decisions are hated by everyone he works with. Hunter finds bits and pieces of himself in both the memories of the past he hates, and in the present he must survive, all the while being forced to work with the woman he both loves as was hunted by.
