About the Book

The present title is an analytical study of historical development of the kingship of Nepal form refugee. In fourteenth century a number of Rajput rulers moved into the land of Nepal seeking refugee after their heroic defence and later flight from Rajasthan. According to Nepalese chronicles, Bhupal Ranaji, the grandson of Bhupati Ranaji Rao of Udaipur, entered the Central Himalayan region and reached Lasargha near Ridi in 1495 A.D. and pushing a little farther east carved out a principality, touching the river Seti, a tributary of the river Gandak in the east to modern Bhirkot and adjoining areas. Drabya Shah (1559 A.D.-1566 A.D.), the first recorded ruler of this dynasty, extended the boundry of his principality both on the north and the east. Many local chiefs were subjected in the course of expedition and his army marched victoriously to the strategic hill fourtesses in those regions some ten miles in the periphery. Gradually, the boundaries of gorkha states extended by his successors and final shape of Greater Nepal was given by Prithvi Narayan Shah.
