Rende conto degli eventi significativi della storia islamica e della costruzione della comunità di Medina, inclusi momenti più drammatici come come la battaglia di Badr e Uhud, il Pellegrinaggio dell'Addio, gli ultimi giorni della vita del Profeta dell'islam. Il libro presenta anche le relazioni del Profeta con le comunità non musulmane e i sovrani non arabi, le relazioni interstatali e le missive, oltre che la condotta politica militare, suoi insegnamenti e i principi etici alla base delle decisioni di tutta la sua vita. Il libro vinse il primo premio al concorso internazionale sulla sirah (biografia) profetica tenutosi alla Mecca nel 1979.The Sealed Nectar è stato originariamente scritto in lingua araba e urdu, ma ora è stato tradotto in altre lingue tra cui inglese e bengalese sotto la supervisione di esperti.
L'autore del libro è Safy ar Rahman Al-Mubarakpuri (1943-2206), un notevole studioso contemporaneo originario dell'Uttar Pradesh dell'India .Ha insegnato presso l'Università islamica di Madinah per diversi anni prima di trasferirsi a Riyadh e ha lavorato come ricercatore per Maktabah Darussalam.La traduttrice e curatrice del libro in italiano, Marisa Iannucci (1971) è islamologa e si occupa di thurath islamico e storia e sociologia dell'Islam. Ha pubblicato molti libri collettanei e monografici, traduzioni e saggi sui temi di ricerca. La traduzione è un estratto dell'opera originale, ed è corredata da un'introduzione e da numerose note della curatrice; conserva le note originali del testo e una bibliografia delle opere citate dall'autore e di riferimento per la cura del libro. La prefazione alla presente edizione è del Prof. Redouane Nassih, docente di italianistica presso l'Università Hassan II di Casablanca.
