Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2018 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Medien, Kunst, Musik, Note: 1,5, Philipps-Universität Marburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, zunächst das Tierbild bei Wohlleben herauszuarbeiten und in Vergleich mit älteren Darstellungen zu überprüfen, ob es wirklich neue Gedanken liefert, oder ob ähnliche Vorstellungen schon im 20. Jahrhundert aufgetaucht sind. Ferner soll dieses Tierbild in den anthropologischen Kontext eingeordnet werden und versucht werden, es mit gegenwärtigen Ansätzen in Verbindung zu bringen. Tiere sind in unserem Alltag in vielfältiger Weise allgegenwärtig: Sie sind unsere Freunde und unser Freizeitvertreib, sie unterstützen uns bei der Arbeit, unterhalten uns, werden von uns geliebt, gehasst, gefürchtet und auch verspeist. Ferner spielen sie eine Rolle in unserer Sprache, unserer Kunst und unserer Literatur. Kinderbücher ohne Tiere wären kaum denkbar, aber auch in Filmen spielen sie nicht selten eine Hauptrolle. Zu beliebten Medien gehören darüber hinaus aber auch Sachbücher, wie nicht nur die Verkaufszahlen zeigen, sondern auch, wie sie innerhalb der Gesellschaft diskutiert werden. Tiere werden dabei in modernen Sachbüchern nicht nur im Sinne der Naturkunde mit ihren biologischen Merkmalen dargestellt, vielmehr gehen sie auf das Verhältnis zwischen Mensch und Tier ein. Seit wenigen Jahren sind auf den Bestsellerlisten auffallend viele Autoren vertreten, die sich mit Tieren, insbesondere deren Denken und Gefühlen befassen. Zu den ersten deutschsprachigen Werken zählt dabei "Das Seelenleben der Tiere" des Försters Peter Wohlleben, das 2016 veröffentlicht wurde. In dem Buch versucht Wohlleben anhand von Beispielen aus der Wissenschaft sowie eigenen Beobachtungen, Gefühle, Intelligenz und andere Eigenschaften bzw. Fähigkeiten von Tieren aufzuzeigen.
