About the Book

When worlds collide! Full-time Fifties obsessive and part-time Buddhist, Neville Palmer escapes from his psychiatrist and flies to Thailand armed with a suitcase full of vintage music and pneumatic breasts. But he soon discovers that Thai family life is even more dysfunctional than he is. Neville learns what it's like to loy your krathong, teach English on the wild side and how things can go horribly wrong when you don't keep a firm grip on your soft bits. Neville Changes Villages is an absurdly original and affectionate comedy about life, love and teaching in Thailand before the Internet took over the world.
About the Author: Jack Fielding is of English and French heritage with a little Irish thrown in on his grandmother's side. He has worked and travelled throughout the world. Always drawn to the absurd and improbable, Jack has modelled cowboy hats in Tokyo, dined with General Franco's English interpreter in Paraguay, informally coached Bangkok's premier Elvis impersonator and once starred in a German travel commercial with a plastic dinosaur called Bernard. In his darker moments Jack describes himself as a "not terribly strident Zen Buddhist." A few years ago Jack discovered his creative voice in a discarded biscuit tin somewhere in Southeast Asia. He took up writing, married his physiotherapist and returned to the UK where he completed an MA in Creative Mendacity at Brunel University. He now lives on top of a mountain in Switzerland. Jack writes fiction across a range of genres and even creates new ones along the way. Real-life actresses, singers, killers and victims from the past make guest appearances. Some characters return in different stories. His work often features dark comedy, a gentle undercurrent of Buddhist teaching and speculative, uncanny settings. He still finds time to wear reasonably priced hats and escape abroad. He remains drawn to the bars, cafes and streets of unloved, unfashionable places throughout the world and the people who inhabit them. These unlikely encounters are described in his blog, which also provide news, reflections and insights into his stories. Jack is blessed with a wonderfully understanding wife and two beautiful children. His creative work is dedicated to them. Mono no aware
