Sandy LeonVest has, over the course of her writing career, been a poet, playwright, singer-songwriter, political journalist - radio and print - and the editor/publisher of SolarTimes (solartimes.org), a groundbreaking energy publication and newspaper distributed throughout the San Francisco Bay Area from 2006 through 2013. Today she spends most of her time writing poetry and fiction, which she believes was "who she meant to be all along." Sandy's poems capture the spirit of the 21st century, with all of its circularities and contradictions - fathomless beauty and incomprehensible ugliness; infinite joy and endless grieving; and the inevitability of "the ever-spinning circle." About the Author: Sandy LeonVest has led many lives, all of which have included writing. Over the course of her decades-long career, she has produced a vast and diverse range of work, beginning in Marin County, California as a local freelance reporter. Her broadcasting career began in the 1990s at radio station KPFA (Radio Pacifica) in Berkeley, where she graduated from the station's award-winning apprenticeship program, before going on to produce and host public affairs and news programming there. During that time, she became the first news producer at Marin County radio station, KWMR. She began broadcasting nationally in 2010, after accepting an offer by Norman Solomon (former US congressional candidate and founder of the Institute for Public Accuracy) to replace him as host of Political Analysis, a program airing at the New York-based Progressive Radio Network. Sandy LeonVest's articles have been widely published, and can be found at a number of online publications, including Common Dreams, Toward Freedom, CounterPunch and SolarTimes (solartimes.org), the groundbreaking energy publication she founded in 2006. She served as editor of SolarTimes for seven years, until the death of her husband, James Vest, in 2013. Today Sandy lives in Fairfax, California, where she dedicates her time and energy to writing poetry and fiction. She hopes to have her novel, Love On A Darkening Sphere, published before her computer dies.
