About the Book

While "The Nha Trang Letters" is the story of a soldier who was stationed on an army airbase in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam, it is not that different in some experiences and quite the same in many others to those of the hundreds of thousands of young men who were drafted into a war not of their choosing and sent to fight half a world away. Through the actual letters of the time, numerous literary vignettes, and an abundance of photos, we are able to share a soldier's personal story and his life, and reflect upon that divisive era of our nation's history -- the war in Vietnam.
About the Author: Dennis Martin, a freelance writer out of Woodstock, Georgia, has been a history buff and writer since childhood, and those skills have served him well in the research and co-writing of his last eight books on Genealogy, History, and Military History . He is a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1969-1971 and did a one-year tour of duty in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. Dennis is an award-winning writer of numerous national writing contests, a writer of textbooks and test preparation textbooks, and a retired college professor who taught at two Metro Atlanta universities. His publication credits include feature stories, short stories, advertisement pieces, and works of fiction and non-fiction that have appeared in national and regional magazines and newspapers. Dennis grew up in northern Ohio and received his first degree form Bowling Green State University. Upon moving to the Atlanta Metro area, he returned to college and received his degree from Kennesaw State University, graduating "cum laude," while majoring in English and minoring in History. He then went on to attain his Master's Degree in Professional Writing at KSU. He is a member of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society; Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society; Golden Key Academic Honor Society; and Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society. He is presently finishing two books about his military and societal experiences during the turbulent years of the Vietnam War.
