About the Book

This book will help every type of organization or group:

  • Large and Small
  • For-profit and Not-for-profit (including churches, NGOs, and government departments)
  • Business to Consumer
  • Business to Business
As an international business consultant, I realized many organizations are skipping over basic marketing concepts and need a gentle reminder to get back to the basics. Helping over 200 companies in the US and Europe, I realized I had found only one organization that did everything right -- Santa's North Pole organization. With 25 years of marketing and 12 years as a professional Santa Claus, I decided to combine the two and the result is North Pole Marketing, a fun, easy-to-read book on achieving greater marketing and business success.

North Pole Marketing, contains 52 of Santa's Secrets that will help any group, organization or business improve their marketing, fulfillment and customer service. Each chapter is only one page but each chapter contains:

  • One of Santa's Secrets
  • A brief explanation of how Santa uses that secret
  • A statement about how you might use the secret.
How To Use This Book:
  • Each week or month put one chapter on posters all over your business where every employee will see it.
  • During that week or month, every meeting of 3 or more employees should spend at least 10 to 15 minutes discussing the chapter and how it can be applied to your organization.
  • At the end of the week or month, hold a large meeting to discuss how the chapter may or will impact your organization.
Pre-Publication Reviews:
  • "John Chilson has captured a vast number of marketing truths, giving us a simple way to grasp each one through the Santa Claus tradition. Instead of coals in our stockings, we find nuggets of gold.
Best of all, we are not left to wade through a mountain of words to find the treasure. It's all right there on the surface, ready to review again and again to keep us refreshed and alert."

  • "John continues to display a unique ability to drill down to basics and remind us of those things we marketers sometimes overlook - OUR CUSTOMERS. It's a quick read and I highly recommend it."
    Chris Lynde
Senior Vice President & General Manager
Communefx ( a Source Marketing company)
  • "North Pole Marketing defines what you need and starts off with all you want to do is give your client the best experience ever. Brilliant!"
A comment on some of the reviews posted here ...
  • YES, the ideas and suggestions in this book are very basic. That is the whole purpose of the book -- to remind the reader of basic ideas that may have been forgotten or passed over as not relevent to the organization.
  • NO, I do not provide solutions or a course of action. You are smart or you wouldn't be in business. Helping you identify a possible problem is half-way to solving it. You know your organization better than I ever will. Trust your employees and ask their help. You may be surprised on their creative solutions.
