About the Book

Life is a beach.
Love is like sand, soft and coarse at the same time. But then, so is truth.
Satbir is the proverbial happy child, to a lone mother Mimi. Under the loving umbrella of his neighbours - Mr. and Mrs. Balsara, 'Sattu'. grows up becoming a loner, with a solitary friend Harry. Unc.'Freddy next door, plays the loyal neighbourhood chum, in the absence of Dad.

The generation before Satbir, has performed many a sacrifice and penance to deliver themselves from love. Mimi is mother to the devoted son, keeping something secret to share many years later. Their small family of two, is hit with change, when Aunt Tiara and her daughter come back into their lives. Will Sammaya stand a chance? Or will Sherrie sweep him off his feet?

It is now for Satbir to choose the girl of his dreams, to get it right, and keep his family out of the triangle.
It gets muddy and sticky, like the wet sand on his childhood beach.

After all, LOVE is NOT Child's play.About the Author
sun: jeev is the nomDePlume of Sanjeev Bhatia, who resides currently in Bombay, India.

Love is Not Child's Play - is written as a contemporary play, for theatre. The swings in fate and cupid give ample opportunity to stage the drama. Love needs minimum two people.

In this play, there are two lovers, two neighbours, two friends and two cousins, beside two female love interests that embody fondness v/s infatuation. These 'couples', set the ball rolling in two's for a compact cast to deliver the story from the eyes of Satbir's truth. There is no location context, Sattu could be the boy next door, caged by his solitude in any apartment around the world. The time, is somewhere in the 21st century when aeroplanes changed the way we saw the world and worked.

This is the author's first play, and his third work of fiction, (the first being Moh&Maya and the second, Dev&Diya.) This play explores the tangibility of truth and time, and their impact on love. The way Satbir receives, feels and interprets love, is different from all the other characters, who find love in different relationships.

The earlier work of the author (Moh&Maya) explores a Mother's affection, the Maya of attachment and the illusory love (moh) for her land, her house, her sons, and the impact of family migration during a pandemic on her choice. The second book (Dev&Diya) is a story of the lost cause of George's fatherhood, interlaced with themes like jealousy and infidelity affecting the physical, human and mental condition.
