About the Author: Dr. Chitram (Chit) Lutchman
Lead author of this book, Dr. Chit Lutchman is a hands-on Oil and Gas professional with more than 30 years of experience in leading Operations Management, Project Management, EH&S, PSM and OEMS. Chit has been the lead author of published books in the areas of Project Management, EH&S, PSM and OEMS. He is also the lead author of 7 Fundamentals of Operationally Excellent Management System. In his work, Dr. Lutchman seeks to bring business intelligence, operations discipline, risk management, reliability and EH&S under a single umbrella for sustainable excellence in business performance.
Dr. Lutchman is an internationally recognized EH&S and Management System professional and is has presented at international conferences in the US, Middle East, Asia and the Caribbean. A consummate learner, Dr. Lutchman challenges himself and others to continually improve. Dr. Lutchman holds a DBA, MBA and a B.Sc. Agricultural Sciences. He is also a 1st Class Power Engineering License holder and is a certified safety professional (CSP) and a Canadian registered safety professional (CRSP).

Dr. Kevan Lutchman
Dr. Kevan Lutchman has held the part-time role of document writer and editor of technical documents with Safety Erudite Inc. for the past four years while completing his degree in medicine. He is a strong advocate of management systems and operations discipline. His interest in Workplace Health and Safety has encouraged him to explore specialization in Occupational Medicine as a future career, with the intent of proactive intervention in workplace injuries and diseases. Dr. Lutchman has been deeply involved in the first installment of this series having provided editorial, content and usability reviews of the book titled: 7 Fundamentals of an Operationally Excellent Management System.
At present, Dr. Lutchman continues to focus on developing his career in medicine and looks forward to contributing to further work in the field of Occupational Health and preventative measures for improving workplace health and safety performance.
Dr. Ramakrishna (Rama) Akula
Dr. Rama is passionate about Business/Operations excellence and is committed to helping clients achieve their elusive goals of operations discipline and operations excellence. Dr. Rama is a mechanical engineer with 19 years of experience working for Oil and Gas organizations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Dr. Rama gained significant recognition as a subject mater expert in Plant Management, QHSE, Organizational Strategic Performance, Operational Excellence (HSE) and Business Excellence (Quality) Managements Systems.
Dr. Rama completed his doctorate degree (PhD) on material safety with a focus on improving quality and safety around LP Gas cylinders. He is a chartered member in IOSH, UK (CMIOSH), holding the title Occupational Safety and Health Practitioner and a Chartered Mechanical Engineer from Institution of Engineers (India). He also holds an MBA in Operations, a post-graduate diploma in HSE and a Certificate in Disaster Management.
An experienced management systems assessor, he has been a lead auditor for recipients of prestigious industry excellence awards in UAE for the implementation of Corporate Excellence programs. Also, Dr. Rama is the recipient of the UAE National Quality Award from ASQ- Middle East and North Africa and holds a world record on research publications.
Charles (Chuck) Lyons
A business focused executive with over 30 years of experience delivering results in a broad spectrum of industries across 42 countries. Expertise in developing, implementing and managing Operational Excellence, Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Sustainability at all levels within the organization. Proven ability to develop and deploy ISO complaint integrated management systems. Track record of driving improvement across the OEM spectrum. Excellent communicator who excels at building strong client relationships to drive business consistency and streamline systems and processes. Possess diverse QHSE / OEM experience in both large and small organizations.
Mr. Lyons education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1986, a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University in 2013 and is a Registered Professional Engineer. He began his career with an international petrochemical company as a process engineer and soon moved into environmental, health and safety. After ten years with major Petrochemical and Refining Operators and moving to corporate lead roles, he shifted into the Oilfield Services business for four years working internationally as the corporate lead for EHS and Quality for Schlumberger. From there he shifted back to the major Oil and Gas Operators with Conoco for four years before making the jump into Engineering, Procurement and Construction with KBR as the global executive responsible for quality, health, safety and environment. Charles has spent the last 7 years working in Calgary for Oil & Gas, Power and Utility operators as an executive developing EHS and EOMS systems and managing a diverse operational portfolio.
Dr. Waddah S. Ghanem Al Hashmi
Dr. Waddah S. Ghanem Al Hashmi has more than 22 experience in the Engineering and Oil and Gas Sector. His expertise is in several areas including HSE, Management Systems, Human Factors, Sustainability, Operational Excellence, Reflective Learning for HSE Practitioners, Safety Management as well as Environment and Energy and Resource Management.
He is a prolific writer and author of more than 100 technical papers, presentations and workshops and has to date authored and co-authored 6 international published books, one of which was the 7 Fundamentals of Operationally Excellent Management System.
He sits on several boards including the Energy Institute UAE and the UK; Oil Companies International Marine Forum and Dubai Carbon PJSC in the UAE. He is a Fellow of the Energy Institute (UK), a member of the IoD (UK), a member of the ASSP (USA) and an Associate Fellow of the IChemE (UK). He also represents the UAE as Head of Delegation in the TC 283 the International Technical Committee for the ISO 45001 Standard.
He is the Hon, Chairman of the Energy Institute - Middle East since late 2017.
