Zahlreiche Konzepte widmen sich mittlerweile diesem Thema. Einige mit eher kurzfristiger Verfallszeit andere wiederum mit einer langfristig orientierten Intention. Insbesondere das organisationale Lernen zählt zu diesen langfristigen Konzepten, die es ermöglichen sollen, den Wissensbestand eines Unternehmens zu festigen, zu verbessern und zukunftsfähig zu machen. Ziel dieser Arbeit soll es sein, einen Überblick über das innerhalb der Forschung durchaus heterogen diskutierte organisationale Lernen und den damit verbundenen Prozessen zu geben. Dabei soll ermittelt werden, welcher Voraussetzungen es bedarf, um organisationales Lernen überhaupt zu ermöglichen und wie sich die lernende Organisation verwirklichen lässt. Besondere Berücksichtigung finden im Zusammenhang damit die Methoden und Instrumente des Wissensmanagements. Übergehend von der Einleitung werden dazu die theoretischen Grundlagen geschaffen, indem zentrale Begriffe wie Lernen und Wissen näher betrachtet werden. In Bezug auf das Lernen werden zwei Bedeutungen des Begriffs sowie grundlegende Lernformen vorgestellt. Wissen als sehr unterschiedlich betrachteter Begriff wird in dieser Arbeit definiert, von anderen Begriffen differenziert sowie in bekannte Wissenstypologien eingeordnet.
