Sie stehen vor einer Veränderung und müssen sich entscheiden. In drei Erzählungen ist es der Mut der Protagonisten, etwas Ungewöhnliches zu tun, etwas, von dem sie nicht wissen, wie es aus geht und mit dem sie etwas riskieren. Die Geschichten, die sich zu Beginn, in der Mitte und zum Ende der DDR-Zeit ereignen, beruhen auf authentischen Erlebnissen und stammen aus der Familiengeschichte der Autorin. Zur Freude der Kinder bekommt Anna 1949 vom Hilfswerk eine Mutter-Kind-Kur an der Ostsee. Doch nach wenigen Tagen träumt sie von ihrem Mann, der seit sechs Jahren in sibirischer Kriegsgefangenschaft ist. "Der Traum" scheint ihr eine Entscheidung abzuverlangen, die sich gegen jede Vernunft richtet. Zur "Musterung" muss Hans im Sommer 1964. Er beschließt, den Wehrdienst total zu verweigern. Doch auch noch jemand anderes geht ein politisches Risiko ein. Ein Lebensthema wird für Hans deutlicher. Es wird ihn nicht mehr verlassen. Robert und Gabriele sind eines der vielen jungen Paare, die sich im Sommer 1989 entschließen, "Über Ungarn weg" zu gehen. Sie wissen nicht genau, was sie erwartet. Sie wissen nur, was sie verlieren: Heimat, Familie und, wer weiß, vielleicht sogar das Leben. Trotzdem packen sie ihre Sachen, getrieben von Resignation in Bezug auf das eine und von Hoffnung in Bezug auf das andere Deutschland.
About the Author: Beate Thieswald-Schechter, geboren 1969 in Eisenach, schrieb schon immer Geschichten. Sie wuchs mit ihrem jungeren Bruder in einem Pfarrhaus in Sachsen Anhalt auf. Aufgrund fehlender Zugehorigkeit zu den Jugendorganisationen wurde ihr der Zugang zur Oberschule verwehrt. Im Sommer 1989 floh sie uber Ungarn in die Bundesrepublik. Nach einer padagogischen Ausbildung studierte sie in Jena Sozialarbeit und berufsbegleitend Familientherapie in Berlin. Seit 2000 arbeitet sie als Sozialpadagogin und Familientherapeutin in verschiedenen Berufsfeldern. 2011 belegte sie einen Intensivkurs fur Literarisches Schreiben. In Folge entstanden Erzahlungen, ein Roman und eine Kindergeschichte. Die Geschichten der Autorin erzahlen von gewohnlichen Dramen des Lebens, doch auch von Lebenserfahrungen aus der DDR, in der manche Entscheidungen mit politischen Risiken verbunden waren. Beate Thieswald-Schechter lebt mit ihrem Mann und ihren beiden Kindern in Frankfurt am Main."
