About the Author:

Ulrich H.M. Spandau, MD, PhD, ist Assistenzprofessor in der Abteilung für Augenheilkunde der Universität Uppsala, Uppsala, Schweden. Nach dem Studium der Medizin an der Universität Würzburg absolvierte Dr. Spandau seine Facharztausbildung in den Abteilungen für Augenheilkunde der Universität Heidelberg und der Universität Mannheim-Heidelberg sowie seine chirurgische Ausbildung an der Augenklinik in Koblenz. Im Jahr 2003 erhielt er die Anerkennung als Facharzt für Augenheilkunde. Im Jahr 2006 wurde er zum stellvertretenden Direktor der Abteilung für Augenheilkunde an der Universität Mannheim-Heidelberg ernannt, und seit 2008 ist er Oberarzt und Leiter der Augenchirurgie an der Abteilung für Augenheilkunde des Universitätsklinikums Uppsala. Er ist der Autor von mehr als 50 Artikeln in Fachzeitschriften mit Peer-Review.

Sang Jin Kim, MD, PhD ist außerordentlicher Professor in der Abteilung für Augenheilkunde, Samsung Medical Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Seoul, Südkorea. Er schloss 2001 sein Studium an der Medizinischen Hochschule der Seoul National University ab und absolvierte seine Facharztausbildung in der Augenheilkunde und seine Netzhautfellowship am Seoul National University Hospital. Im Jahr 2011 wurde er Mitglied der Fakultät für Augenheilkunde am Samsung Medical Center. Von 2016 bis 2018 untersuchte er als Gastwissenschaftler am Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health & Science University, Oregon, USA, pädiatrische Netzhauterkrankungen einschließlich ROP. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind pädiatrische Netzhauterkrankungen und vererbte Netzhautdegenerationen. Er ist Autor von mehr als 70 Artikeln in von Experten begutachteten Fachzeitschriften.
