Il Lockheed P-38J Lightning ("Fulmine" in inglese) era un aereo rivoluzionario, estremamente innovativo, grazie soprattutto alla fusoliera bitrave, ai due motori a V Allison con turbocompressori all'interno delle travi di coda e al carrello d'atterraggio a triciclo anteriore.Il Bell P-39 Airacobra era un caccia monomotore ad ala bassa prodotto dall'azienda statunitense Bell Aircraft Corporation. Fu il velivolo da combattimento più controverso impiegato dagli Usa durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Fu il primo caccia al mondo ad avere il motore installato al centro della fusoliera, alle spalle del pilota.Il Bell P-63 Kingcobra fu un aereo da caccia monomotore ad ala bassa sviluppato dall'azienda aeronautica statunitense Bell Aircraft Corporation nei primi anni quaranta e utilizzato durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Evoluzione del precedente P-39 Airacobra, avviata nel tentativo di correggere i difetti di quel modello, l'United States Army Air Forces non lo valutò mai adatto al combattimento, relegandolo al ruolo di traino per bersagli. Di conseguenza, quasi due terzi della produzione venne assegnata all'Unione Sovietica e circa 300 esemplari alle unità della Francia Libera.Il Curtiss P-40 era un monoplano monomotore monoposto di fabbricazione statunitense che nella prima metà degli anni quaranta venne impiegato dagli alleati come aereo da caccia o cacciabombardiere in molti dei teatri in cui si combatté la seconda guerra mondiale. Prodotto dalla Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company di Buffalo, New York, non fu mai un aereo dalle caratteristiche eccezionali (a causa soprattutto del suo motore, poco potente ad alta quota); tuttavia fu ugualmente costruito in un gran numero di esemplari, e la sua notevole robustezza (unita alla sua ampia disponibilità fin dai primi mesi successivi all'entrata in guerra degli USA) ne fece uno dei caccia più importanti per le vicende dell'aviazione americana nella prima fase della seconda guerra mondiale, tra il 1941 e l'estate del 1943.
