About the Book

Quid est veritas? What is truth? Not only is this the most difficult question to answer, it is utterly the most impossible concept to live up to. The truths of one woman bleed from her quill onto the pages of her journal, staining her tale into the paper, trickling out a story of love, passion, war, indulgence, confusion, elation, despair, death and grief. She sees the unseen side of the noble houses, is welcomed into the private lives of such public people, and although everyone knows her, she is anonymous in her world, invisible. Her journal spins the tapestry of half a century of life, and tells the secret truths of The Painter's Daughter.
About the Author: A story-spinner since she could speak, Carol Lewis was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, in 1955, and always felt she was living in the wrong place and time. Diamante is the manifestation of her imaginative compensation, allowing Carol to live the life that she was meant to embrace. In writing this book, she has made every effort to keep the historical references accurate. The majority of her characters are in fact historical and lived in the places and at the times mentioned in Diamante's journal. Carol is an eclectic artist, working in the widest variety of media, from cloth to acrylic paints, thread on canvas to words on paper. She is a mother of two amazing daughters, four incredible grandchildren and hostmother to just under 200 International Language Students from around the world. Devoted to DYI and becoming all you can be, and to realizing your future in the researching of the past, Carol hopes you will never stop learning and that you enjoy reading the personal journal of her SCA Persona, Diamante da Magenta, as much as she enjoyed writing it!
