About the Book

Similar to other business books that offer fresh new ideas, this book is intended to encourage ordinary workers to think like a CEO-to make decisions simply from business instincts, to listen to other staff, to uncover and understand the importance of true facts. 'The Pantry (or lunchroom) is full of information that cannot be learned from any official reporting system. Critical decisions should be based on information learned there, where employees comfortably and easily share views, ideas and struggles with each other, rather than simply based on reports generated simply from numbers or by those out of touch with the daily work of the business. The book offers readers with business management ideas and concepts that can be applied at the work place. It links forward-thinking ideas to business situation and crisis management happening at the company where a few people have business interaction and some personal conflicts related to the tension and pressure in the workplace. As business issues are difficult for readers to enjoy, it is important to offer some new ideas for the fast-moving and dynamic modern era. Among others, this book aims to propose key thoughtful ideas such as: -Companies should manage from both bottom-up and top-down approaches. -Listening to people is a key success factor. -Every employee can contribute to the achievement of the business by adopting the way of thinking like a CEO. -Formal meeting may not be encouraging to employees and not really effective for brainstorming. The informal meeting can lead to the right solutions through candid discussion involving everyone. -The pantry or any kind of breakout area is a place where employees can informally get together in a more relaxing atmosphere. This can encourage vast discussions and garner insights from individuals often overlooked. It is a space where employees will not feel stressful or fear expressing opinions. It is the place where soft skills (such as empathy, communication and networking) can be nurtured. Successful businesses become successful by listening to feedback from all parts of the business and making sure to address the needs of each. If one listens carefully, the problems most businesses face, and their solutions become readily apparent from the bottom of the company up. The Pantry CEO is a business novel, in the tradition of The Goal, which follows Piying, the manager of the company lunchroom and catering service. Piying has no expectation or desire to advance in her company. In fact, in her native Thailand, one who occupies Piying's position is seen as little more than a maid, yet she does desire to see her company succeed. Piying carefully studies Dr. Yan's articles, the business guru in her local newspaper, and finds they apply in her day-to-day conversations at work. Unbeknownst to her, Piying occupies the greatest place in the company to understand the business from all levels. Employees from all over the company come to the lunchroom to eat, and while eating, they talk. Through Piying's story, Dr. Yan stealthily teaches readers his Pantry Model. The Pantry Model helps business leaders find answers that allude them in the executive suites, where charts and graphs detail known information most companies utilize to make decisions, by showing them how to uncover the hidden information employees and others know about the company. The Pantry Model helps leaders, therefore, focus on and discover the unknown information at the bottom of their company, which they need in order to prosper. The goal of this book is to give every reader the confidence and basic skills to run his or her own company successfully. The Pantry CEO is inspirational and motivational. For the millions tired of watching their company follow old rules that lead workers to unstable futures, The Pantry CEO empowers readers with the confidence to control their own futures through entrepreneurism.
About the Author: My name is Yanyong Thammatucharee. I am Chinese Thai, born in Pitsanulok province in 1963. I am the eldest son of nine children.
