ALLA CADUTA DEL FASCISMO, in Sardegna la presenza antifascista organizzzata è limitata ad alcune zone e a ristrette cerchie di militanti. In questo contesto, nel 1943/1944, un gruppo di comunisti della provincia di Sassari getta le basi per costruire il Partito Comunista di Sardegna, che propugna un programma federalista e prospetta la costituzione di una repubblica socialista sarda. La figura più prestigiosa del gruppo era quella di Antonio Cassitta, di Calangianus, fondatore nel '21 del Pcd'l, insieme a Gramsci e Bordiga. Altre figure di spicco Giovanni Antioco Mura e Cicito Anfossi. L'ambizioso progetto è interrotto, nel 1945, dall'attacco profondo del PCI nei confronti dell'ancor debole PCS. La vicenda, descritta con dovizia di particolari, anche sulla base di documenti di prima mano e di testimonianze dirette di alcuni dei protagonisti, trasmette il fascino tipico delle grandi battaglie e delle grandi idee. A distanza di molti decenni, essa mostra ancora tutta l'attualità di un progetto mirante all'autodeterminazione della nazione sarda per la costruzione di una Sardegna sovrana e perciò capace di decidere i suoi legami con gli altri popoli. Espressione di una rivendicazione nazionale di sinistra, marxista, essa è dimostrazione del fatto che la rivendicazione nazionale di un popolo oppresso può accomunare classi e strati sociali e non può essere confusa con le posizioni scioviniste e intolleranti tipiche degli stati centralisti.

PAOLO PISU, nato a Laconi nel 1947, fino a 30 anni operaio, poi impiegato all'Enel. Laureato in Scienze Politiche all'Università di Cagliari. A 14 anni si iscrive alla Gioventù Comunista e, in seguito, partecipa al movimento degli anni '68 e '69. Contrario al compromesso storico, nel 1976 esce dal PCI e fonda la sezione comunista autonoma di Laconi. Entra in Democrazia Proletaria nel 1981 e nel 1984 diventa segretario nazionale di Democrazia Proletaria Sarda. Nel 1991 confluisce nel Partito della Rifondazione Comunista (PRC), nella cui lista è stato eletto, nel 2004, nel Consiglio Regionale della Sardegna. È stato Sindaco di Laconi. Federalista, è sostenitore di una Sardegna con istituzioni autonome, per un'ltalia e un'Europa dei popoli. Ha scritto anche Figli della società.
