Uber zwei Jahre sind seit dem Erscheinen des 1. Teilbandes Nervensystem im Rahmen dieser Speziellen pathologischen Anatomie vergangen. Wie schon bei Band 13/1 waren auch bei dem jetzt vorgelegten 2. Teilband nicht unerheb- liche Schwierigkeiten zu iiberwinden, die seine Fertigstellung verzogerten. Er sollte urspriinglich mit den "sonstigen" physikalischen Krankheitsursachen (H.P. SCHMITT) die von F. UNTERHARNSCHEIDT bearbeitete Neurotraumatologie enthalten. Durch ein folgenschweres MiBgeschick ging jedoch nicht nur das druckfertige Manuskript dieses Beitrages verloren sondern auch das dazugeho- rige Bildmaterial mit samtlichen Negativen, so daB dieses Kapitel erst in einem spateren Teilband erscheinen kann. Es muBte daher umdisponiert werden. Von der Thematik her bot sich das fUr spater vorgesehene Kapitel Chemische Krankheitsursachen und Nervensy- stem an, das schliel3lich auch vorgezogen werden konnte, nachdem zunachst G. QUADBECK und dann H. BERLET hierfUr die FederfUhrung iibernahmen. Dem Abschnitt Entwicklungsstorungen und Schiiden des reifenden Gehirns (H. NOETZEL) konnte eine EinfUhrung in die Entwicklung des Nervensystems (W. SCHLOTE) vorangestellt werden. In ihr werden nicht nur die fUr das Verstand- nis der verschiedenen MiBbildungen wichtigen Phasen der Organogenese, der Differenzierung und der Synaptogenese erortert, sondern auch Fragen der Spezi- fitat neuronaler Kontaktbildung und der interneuronalen trophischen Beziehun- gen angesprochen, die bei embryo-fetalen Schaden und Syndromen mit psycho- motorischer Retardierung ein zunehmendes Interesse gewinnen. So wurde trotz aller Widrigkeiten die thematische Zusammensetzung auch dieses 2. Teilbandes mit der Darstellung der Hirnentwicklung und ihrer Storun- gen sowie der exogenen Noxen chemischer und physikalischer Art mit ihren Auswirkungen auf das Nervensystem dennoch in sich geschlossen und ausgewo- gen.
