Claude et Liliane forment un couple heureux. Ils fêtent leur septième anniversaire dans un restaurant de Bar-le-Duc. Sur le trajet du retour, Claude ressent une violente douleur due à une inflammation de la vésicule. Liliane le conduit aux urgences où il va passer la nuit avant de subir une opération le lendemain. En repartant seule à leur appartement, Liliane a un accident de voiture dans lequel elle perd la vie. Le chirurgien qui doit opérer Claude lui cache son décès afin d'optimiser l'opération. Au cours de l'intervention, Claude tombe dans le coma. À son réveil, trois jours plus tard, Liliane a déjà été incinérée. Son monde s'écroule. Un soir, alors qu'il ne parvient pas à faire le deuil, il assiste à l'agression d'une femme âgée, Louise, dans le jardin public de la ville. Il se porte à son secours et parvient à mettre en fuite les agresseurs. Alors qu'elle se remet de ses émotions, Louise l'invite chez elle et, pour le remercier, lui offre une petite boîte d'albâtre dans laquelle se trouve une gélule bleue. Elle lui confie que lorsqu'il se sentira prêt, il pourra l'avaler avant de s'endormir. Au réveil, il revivra la dernière année avec Liliane... Mais il y a une contrepartie qu'elle ne peut lui révéler, mais qu'il découvrira lui-même seulement après être passé à l'acte. Quelques jours plus tard, alors qu'il souffre de plus en plus de l'absence de Liliane, Claude franchit le pas et décide d'avaler la gélule...
About the Author: Né en 1953 dans la Meuse, Patrick LAGNEAU est retraité de l'enseignement agricole où il a été professeur d'éducation socioculturelle pendant trente-trois ans. Il a placé, tout au long de sa carrière, son énergie créatrice dans le théâtre, la comédie musicale, l'écriture de scénarios et la réalisation de films vidéo avec lesquels il a conduit ses élèves et étudiants à de nombreux prix nationaux. Aujourd'hui vice-président et webmaster d'une association d'auteurs meusiens (PLUME, acronyme de Passion Littéraire de l'Union Meusienne des Ecrivains et illustrateurs), il se consacre à l'écriture de romans dans des genres éclectiques, pour le plaisir de raconter des histoires au gré de son imagination.
