About the Author: Kathy Yiu, a native of Hong Kong, studied piano from a young age. While living in Hong Kong as a young girl, she attended St. Paul's International School and Hotung Secondary School, where she was the pianist for their award-winning choir.
She then attended Capilano College in Canada to study music and was the first runner-up in the school's music competition. She transferred to the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada, and earned her bachelor of music degree. At the time, she was mentored by Ronald Turini, who studied under well-known pianist Vladimir Horowitz. She also studied with Tina Yanchus, who attended the Juilliard School of Music.
Her accolades include an outstanding teacher award from Parsons Music in Hong Kong, an outstanding teacher award in the 2015 Second Hong Kong Youth Piano Competition, and first place in the British Columbia Conservatory of Music piano competition.
