About the Book

Three short stories about murders most foul yet fiendishly clever. Writers and poets mysteriously die horrible deaths in front of friends and colleagues. Every time Charlie Chang comes to South Florida to visit friends another poet or writer dies. Please not to fear, Inspector Chang is on these cases. Surely justice will be done. That's Chang not Chan. Charlie Chang is the son born in the late forties of a Shanghai police chief. His father was a fan of the fictional Chan and so named his son Charlie. The younger Chang followed in his father's footsteps in China. In the time of Mao, he faced re-education or worse so emigrated to America where he settled in Seattle. There he rose to the rank of Chief Inspector of Homicide before retiring to consult in such matters. Like his father Chang was a big fan of Chan on the silver screen and modeled (some would say effected) many of the mannerisms of the fictional Charlie Chan.
About the Author: A Connecticut transplant, Charles Meyer is a graduate of M.I.T and The University of Chicago Business School. Mr. Meyer pursued a successful career in marketing and international business before taking an early retirement. In recent years, he has turned to dogs, writing, and painting. Mr. Meyer's (CHM) paintings recently won distinction in the All Florida competition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. A retrospective of his early paintings is included in the shortly forthcoming book "DOGGIE, My Life's Story" soon to be available on Amazon. Mr. Meyer previous works under the writing name "Derek Maxwell" include: "Expedition's End" "Dirty Green Hands" and "Dead Peonies" All three currently are out of print but are being re-edited and will be available shortly. Mr. Meyer currently resides with his six rescue dogs in Margate, Florida. As Chang would put it, "Confucius say: All work and no dogs makes a dull life." Fortunately for Mr. Meyer, six is enough to avoid that.
