Diese Untersuchung befasst sich mit dem Konflikt zwischen dem platonischen Konzept oder dem reinen Ideal der Unabhängigkeit der Zentralbanken von den Regierungen und seiner praktischen Anwendung im realen Leben. Platon lehrte uns, dass ein reines Ideal vollkommen ist, weil es abstrakt und von der Außenwelt losgelöst ist. Ein reines Ideal kann nicht perfekt auf ein komplexes politisches Geschehen angewendet werden, das von sozialen Akteuren bestimmt wird. Im Gegensatz zu einem reinen, abstrakten und vollkommenen Ideal ist die Realität in der Tat durch Heterogenität gekennzeichnet und wird von zahlreichen unkontrollierbaren Faktoren beeinflusst. Die konkreten Ereignisse, die in diesem Beitrag untersucht werden, betreffen den Einfluss, den die EZB zwischen August und November 2011 bei zwei konkreten Anlässen auf das politische Szenario Italiens ausübte, Ereignisse, die in dem erzwungenen Rücktritt von Ministerpräsident Silvio Berlusconi gipfelten. Der Konflikt, den wir mit unserer Untersuchung aufdecken wollen, betrifft die Unvereinbarkeit zwischen dem Konzept der politischen Unabhängigkeit der EZB und dem Einfluss, den die EZB im Jahr 2011 auf die italienische Politik ausübte. Die Theorien von Hobbes, Machiavelli und Platon, die als klassische westliche Werke zur Staatskunst gelten, werden verwendet, um die erhaltenen Antworten zu formen, die in einer narrativen Struktur berichtet und dargestellt werden.
