Este segundo tomo de la Poesía completa de José Lezama Lima contiene los libros siguientes:


Dador, aparecido en 1960

Fragmentos a su imán, publicado en 1976

y los Poemas no publicados en libro. Estas obras abarcan las últimas etapas de la evolución intelectual literaria del autor, así como sus poemas póstumos.

En esta nueva etapa, el poeta asume un nuevo papel: el de dador, el que entrega. Si antes era el poeta el que procuraba poseer, ahora sucede el proceso inverso. Aquí el poeta ofrece otra belleza que no reside precisamente en el fluir sino en una especie de aspereza en el tránsito de las imágenes, dadas por su carácter no contemplativo sino transformador.

Dador es uno de los atributos del Espíritu Santo, dador de las felicidades, de la sobrenaturaleza. También el poeta es dador del acceso a la plenitud de la imagen poética en un mundo en que, según sus creencias, la resurrección se consigue mediante la poesía.

Y así, llegamos a Fragmentos a su imán, el último libro de Lezama Lima. Los fragmentos -los poemas- suponen las últimas piezas del puzzle que vienen a completar todo el cosmos poético lezamiano.

Lo primero que nos sorprende de esta obra, en relación a sus obras anteriores, es la notable disminución del hermetismo poético y de su complejidad expresiva. Sin abandonar el impulso místico y panteista de su primera época, los poemas de esta colección parecen surgir de una situación biográfica más cercana.

Lezama invoca en Fragmentos a su imán tres mundos:


De un lado, la batalla cotidiana del escritor bajo la Cuba castrista.

Del otro, la familia: su madre fallecida, su esposa María Luisa Bautista, a quien está dedicado el cuaderno, su hermana Eloísa Lezama Lima y a sus amigos: Fina García Marruz, José Triana, Reynaldo González, Reinaldo Arenas, Víctor Manuel, Juan David, Virgilio Piñera, Luis Martínez Pedro, Octavio Paz y María Zambrano.

Desde Muerte de Narciso a Fragmentos a su imán, su poesía sitúa al lector en el momento mismo de la creación. En la primera etapa, se plantea la elección de una escritura innovadora. A continuación, se sumerge en la experiencia de su sistema poético (segunda etapa); y finalmente opta por la apertura comunicativa (tercera época).

Desde la misma manera que Narciso se sumerge en el espejo de su imagen, la poesía de José Lezama Lima atraviesa el espejo para construir su propio universo poético.
