A group of friends, Kevin, Carl, Mike, and Susan decided to go hiking in the woods near an abandon cabin. As they were walking along the trail, they found a gold ancient artifact. It looked like a medallion. The artifact had strange engraved symbols on it and attached to a long chain. The group of friends kept the strange looking artifact with them as they were hiking. They took it to the cabin. Later that night as they were getting all settled in for the night, everyone noticed that it had a strange bright orange glow. As the night grew deeper, there were a series of unexplained paranormal events began to occur in the cabin. From that moment on, the camping trip suddenly turned into a frightening moment to surpass. The ancient medallion belonged to a Frenchman who dwelled in the area during the 16th and 17th century time period. This medallion was oval shaped and carved into stone but was embarrassed with the color of gold. Susan found out through her research that Frenchman carved the medallion out of stone and some how it became gold. He was a Frenchman of high statue during his time period. The medallion was a symbol of great power. He often worked on the structure of a castle. The group of friend are considering turning the ancient historical medallion in for a reward, but paranormal events start to occur in their cabin. When they finished their camping trip and returned home. The paranormal activity in the house grew stronger and stronger. Susan believes the Frenchman wants them to finish some work for him on an abandoned Castle that's many miles away. from their house. If they don't travel to the abandoned castle where the Frenchman once worked, then the paranormal activity will not stop until the medallion is returned to the castle. The castle has been abandoned for many centuries and it's now a tourist attraction. Susan and her friends are planning a trip to the castle to return the medallion in hopes of being free from the paranormal activities.
About the Author: Vanessa M. Chattman was born in Newark, NJ. Her family moved to East Orange, NJ a few years later. She graduated from Clifford J. Scott High School in 1989. She joined the US Army in 1990 served on Active Duty for four years and ten months. She deployed to Desert Storm in 1990 and attended Vincennes University In 1993. She worked for the Department of Defense and Child Care Services from 1995 to 1998. In November 1997, she was accepted into the International Poetry Hall of Fame. Her membership with The Writer's Digest Book Club has been active since 1997. Her poems have been published in three different anthologies. The poem "My House" has been published in "The Poetic Voices of America Anthology." The second poem titled "The Celebration" has been published in the "Beginnings" anthology. The poem titled "People" has been published by The National Library of Poetry and has received The Editor's Choice Award. . Now she's an active member of the Unites States Army Reserve and has a associates degree in applied science. She is a single parent and currently resides in Texas.
