About the Book

Alzheimer's disease is now the most feared disease of the 21st Century. What was originally a very specific neurological disease that afflicted younger people--after the establishment of the National Institute on Aging in 1974--Alzheimer's disease morphed into the emperor of all dementias. This book argues that Alzheimer's disease has always been a political pawn which is why we find ourselves in a research cul de sac. After a century of research we are no closer to understanding this clinical disease or closer to uncovering a cure. Approaching Alzheimer's disease as a public health issue opens both the interpretation of the disease and redefines a road map for future research. Humanity cannot endure another century of failed promises.
