About the Book

English summary: At the turn of the 3rd century, the two most important Neo-platonic Greek philosophers, Porphyry and Iamblichus, contended with each other following a exchange of letters regarding the main question of traditional Greek religiosity. Porphyry wrote the Letter to Anebo, which in reality is an open letter to Iamblichus. Unfortunately, Porphyry's Letter to Anebo is now lost; significant fragments, however, still remain, and are presented here in a critical edition. French text.
