About the Book

A wonderful collection of over two dozens stories written by Steve Sloane.
About the Author: When he was eleven, Steve Sloane was diagnosed with dyslexia, by Rose Hershorn. She taught him how to read through a mirror, but he struggled in school. People told him that his stories were so good that he should write them down and send them to the New Yorker. He did not believe that writing, acting, music, comedy or any of his callings were likely to be rewarding professions. Addicted to money, he took a job selling housewares for his father, and continued telling stories. He admired Fyodor Dostoevsky who had little success until he was fifty-six, so Steve decided that when he was fifty-six he would write a story. Shortly before his fifty-sixth birthday, his wife directed him to a writers' group. He attended and started writing. Since then he has written more than two hundred stories and memoirs, a few plays and poems, many of which have been rejected by the New Yorker. His one act play, "Draft Resister" was produced in at Manhattan Repertoire Theatre and was runner up for the Newman-Castillo Award for Best Political Play of 2017. His stories have been published in the Gold Coast Gazette and Nutmeg=Aspirin which was recently cited by Forbes Magazine in March 2018, as one of the top apps for alternative medicine. His story, Medical Heretic was the most shared. He lives in Crotonville with his wife, Melanie who used to teach children with special needs, like him.
